Northwest Panhandle Crops Conference – Moore County

Topical Highlights at the Northwest Panhandle Crops Conference:

• Second-year plant mapping progress in cotton, development of a target growth
curve for the NW Panhandle, expected benefits of this tool for growers and crop
consultants upon project completion

• Economics of crop production and addressing challenges, market outlook, com-
parison of return on investment for 3 tillage treatments in our 2nd-year study

• Agronomics of sorghum forage production for silage under limited irrigation,
comparison to corn, row width considerations, rotation with other crops

• Survey of local, soil carbon levels in cotton and corn cropping systems, Man-
agreement related to regenerative soils and soil health, can these practices save water?

• Irrigation management strategies for production of corn and other feed grains
that improves water use efficiency, development of an acreage optimization tool
